ABOUT
Hello, I'm Emily Claire. I am an artist living in Northern California with my sweet dog, Yui. She is my furry muse, my best friend, and a beautiful reminder to live in the moment.
I have been enchanted by nature since I was a little girl. Growing up in North Carolina, much of my childhood was spent outdoors enjoying each of the four seasons. I would observe plants, little creatures, and even rocks with awe. I am grateful that my parents encouraged me to be curious about the natural world around us. It is also when I am outdoors that I have felt the most connected with our Creator. Nature now informs my art and is always an abundant source of inspiration.
It is when I am making things that I feel the most alive. Photography became an unexpected passion as I discovered that I could tell a little story through photo styling and arranging objects. I have recently been exploring watercolors and find myself falling in love with them. This medium is playful and unpredictable, causing me to surrender and appreciate the process. Muted blue-greens, soft grays, and natural colors of the earth often show up on my palette. These soothing tones feel relaxing to paint with. It is my sincere hope to somehow bring the viewer a sense of peace through my work.
I believe that we are all meant to create and use our imaginations, as children instinctively do. It took me a while to remember this, but there is such magic that occurs when we embrace curiosity and simply allow ourselves to play.
